About Madeleine
My name is Madeleine Petti, and I am the artist behind MaddyMariePaints! I am based in the Chicago suburbs, and I graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.A. in psychology. Roll Tide!
I am currently in graduate school earning my dual masters in art therapy and counseling, and I hope to specialize in the treatment of eating disorders. When I'm not studying, I am running MaddyMariePaints, hanging with my friends, or starting a new craft project.
I created MaddyMariePaints out of my college apartment during my time at Bama, fulfilling design projects and painting commissions for my friends and Delta Gamma sorority sisters. It wasn't necessarily my plan to turn my gig work into an actual business, but after I was laid off from a marketing position postgrad, it seemed reasonable to expand MMP to fight the boredom I was facing with job searching day in and day out.
I spent a LOT of my childhood drawing at a little green IKEA table in my living room with my two sisters. We would spend hours on hours drawaing circles over and over, trying to acheive the perfect shape for a head. My parents are both architects, and I come from an artsy family, so I was very privileged to grow up in a space where my creativity was encouraged and enabled.
As I got older, I began to use art a tool for coping with significant life challenges and trauma, and for giving myself a voice. I've found solace and comfort in artmaking, creating a world for myself where everything is joyful, colorful, and imperfectly wonderful.
